ORCA & HUMPBACK WHALE EXPEDITIONS

  • Nov – Feb

See these magnificent animals in their natural environment during one of the greatest natural events in the ocean.  All while living on an exclusive sail yacht…

Each winter between six and seven million tonnes of Norwegian Spring Spawning Herring enter the shallower fjords and bays of Northern Norway as part of their migration path.  Following these massive schools of herring, orcas and humpback whales arrive in great numbers and spend the winter feeding on the fish here. Unlike anywhere else on earth, the orcas and humpback whales can even be seen feeding alongside each other and in some instances even cooperating in order to do so. As the migration patterns of the herring changes, there is no ‘fixed’ location and the herring and whales often move throughout the vast network of fjords this coast is famous for. We are constantly in touch with local sources to find where the whales are active which also means we often explore new beautiful locations on a daily basis, offering guests beautiful views of the stunning Norwegian fjords.

We start early every morning as we set out to find orca and humpback whales which allows the opportunity to dive with. During these hours you could potentially already encounter several pods on the way as they set out to start feeding on herring in the fjords that line the coast. Adhering to strict ethical and safety standards, once a suitable pod has been located, you will be given the opportunity to enter the water in small groups. With you in the water at all times is a highly trained and qualified Freediving Instructor and guide with knowledge and experience of the marine life and conditions you will encounter.

SVALBARD EXPEDITIONS

  • Jun – Aug

Less than 1200km from the north pole, its the arctic at its most pristine! Travel to one of the wildest and most beautiful places on earth and experience incredible wildlife and the famous midnight sun.

Situated north of mainland Europe, it is about midway between continental Norway and the North Pole. The islands of the group range from 74° to 81° north latitude, and from 10° to 35° east longitude. The archipelago features an Arctic climate, although with significantly higher temperatures than other areas at the same latitude. The flora take advantage of the long period of midnight sun to compensate for the polar night. Svalbard is a breeding ground for many seabirds, and also features polar bears, reindeer, the Arctic fox and a multitude of marine mammals. Seven national parks and twenty-three nature reserves cover two-thirds of the archipelago, protecting the largely untouched, yet fragile, natural environment.

Approximately 60% of the archipelago is covered with glaciers, and the islands feature many mountains and fjords. We will explore the incredible shoreline of Svalbard by yacht in small groups. The expedition will include an experienced Svalbard skipper & a professionally trained guide trained specifically to work in the Arctic and Svalbard region, so you will always be sure to get the best possible information / options during the expedition regarding animals, places to visit etc.
This is truly an experience of a lifetime…
